Students who like to write music may enter the Composition Contest. The $15 entry fee must be paid to Ms. Combs by the first lesson in November, and submissions must be made to the KMTA Original Composition Contest DropBox by 5:00 pm on November 15. Formatting requirements and a link to the DropBox are available upon request. A KMTA expert will assess each submission and recommend changes to be made prior to submission to TMTA. Students who wish to participate in this event must also enroll in the Theory Test either in October or February and earn a passing grade (70% or higher).

The Houston Symphony is coming to Katy for a free concert on June 9 at Morton Ranch High School. Details are on the Symphony website. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about other instruments and hear great music!
Students who are interested in learning more about playing the organ should consider attending this free Organ Recital and Workshop.
Ms. Combs is playing the piano for As Time Goes By on November 7 and 8, 2014. All lessons the first week in November are being rescheduled to accommodate the rehearsal schedule for this production. If you have not already made arrangements with Ms. Combs, please do so immediately!
Dowling Music is giving a workshop about pedal technique on October 26 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. For more details, visit the event webpage.
Ms. Combs will be assisting with the Seven Lakes High School production of The Drowsy Chaperone, which will be performed February 7-9, 2013.
Please be aware that some lessons will need to be rescheduled due to rehearsals leading up to the show. Ms. Combs will give students adequate advance notice of any changes, and it is the student's responsibility to respond to messages in a timely manner and to appear at the correct time for lessons. The Sensations Show Choir will perform "Green Light Songs from Red Light Musicals" on November 17, 18, and 19, at 7:00 pm in the SLHS PAC. Ms. Combs will be playing the piano for all three performances. Due to an intense rehearsal schedule in the weeks leading up to the performances, some lessons may need to be rescheduled--please check your e-mail!
This concert will occur on Tuesday, October 4, at 7:00 pm in the Seven Lakes High School Performing Arts Center. Ms. Combs regularly plays the piano for the choirs at this school. This is a good opportunity to see another side of playing the piano and to hear good music. There is no charge for admission. SLHS is located at the corner of Fry Road and Katy-Gaston Road.
